Despite some "hackneyedness" of this subject, it remains to be stated - wonderfully done.
So - after the death of his father, the hero of the story became the sole heir to the will and the owner of a very valuable collection of paintings. For full comfort, he had only to evict his stepmother (for which he had no warm feelings) and her daughter Yunna. However, life made its adjustments, and after Megumi's unexpected proposal, he decided not to rush. The deal was tempting, but also shocking, as were the prospects...
We can end the story and conclude that power over someone weaker (or the illusion of it) combined with permissiveness can very often awaken very dark sides of human nature, since the desire to succumb to temptation is usually too great. Which is essentially what happened to Kyosuke. Admittedly, while watching it I was expecting a total descent into darkness and a kind of "Stepmother's Sin" rerun, but luckily the filmmakers took a different path. And that's a big plus.
