Kyota-kun is an ordinary Japanese student who sacrificed his merry school years, friendship and love to pass his exam and get into university. After he got in on his first attempt, he didn't feel any satisfaction and began to wonder if it was worth the sacrifice. Years later, in his fourth year, Kyota-kun was seriously injured in a car accident and was taken to a local hospital. There he met his longtime love, Hibari Uekusu, who had just recently become a nurse at the hospital where he was admitted.
